The first of our company has arrived...

On Friday after school, we were thrilled to have my cousins from England, Mick and Linda, join us. Linda, the brave soul, had already been for a swim in the Mediterranean! For those of you that have followed my blog, they were the couple who kindly hosted me for the first week last fall before I took the train to France to begin my French studies. As luck would have it, they were able to rent the apartment across the hall from us in La Belle Epoch. It is a lovely apartment owned by a Canadian couple from Ontario. After a typical lunch of baguette, cheese, saucisson and wine, we took them on a guided tour of the neighbourhood and then headed to old Nice for a couple of hours. The weather cooperated beautifully with blue skies and brilliant sunshine.

Another familiar sight of the beautiful beach overlooking the Mediterranean..

Greg, our dear friend from Edmonton, then arrived by plane in the early evening. It was wonderful to see him! Knowing he would be jet lagged, Brian, Keith and I had figured it would best to have a simple meal of pizza and beer and call it an early night. Keith bought several pizzas from a local pizza van including a vegetarian option for Mick. Mick and Brian brought the beer. Our apartment has the largest eating area with a round table that sits six, so this is where we congregated. The pizza was very good and it proved to be a great way to get everyone to know one another.

Tomorrow, Italy...
